From its beautiful beaches to its towering mountain peaks, St. Lucia has an appeal that is hard to match. Knowing which documents and forms of identification to have handy will ensure you arrive and depart this island paradise as smoothly as possible.

Passports

Most visitors are required to present a valid passport to enter St. Lucia, but for citizens of the United States, Canada, or the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, any adequate proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a driver's license, will do. Visas

Visas are not required for citizens of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or other commonwealth countries. These citizens are given an immigration form that is valid for up to six months. This form is presented upon departure. However, if you are planning to stay beyond three months in St. Lucia, regardless of your country of origin, you will need to apply for a visa.

Visa Applications

Travelers planning to stay in St. Lucia for more than three months or those visiting from one of the countries listed above will need to apply for a visa. The only exceptions are for those who visit the island on diplomatic or official business. Check the prices for different classifications of visas in the following table.

These rates are subject to change, so it's advisable to check with the St. Lucia Tourist Board for the most current visa application fees.

Along with your application for a visa you will need to submit:

  • A passport that will remain valid for at least six months

  • Two passport-sized photos

  • Return ticket to country of origin

  • Travel itinerary

  • Proof of sufficient funds, such as a bank statement

  • Letter of invitation from a friend or relative, school or university, or employer

  • Proof of accommodations on the island, such as a hotel

When it is time to leave St. Lucia, you will need to bring the immigration form or visa that you acquired when you reached the island. It is also important to note that you will be assessed a departure tax of EC$54($20USD) that can only be paid in cash, so be sure to bring enough money to the airport.
